Local Guides With Over a Decade of Experience

Sean

Sean, originally from Northborough, Massachusetts, has had a strong connection to the outdoors since he was young. Growing up, he enjoyed fishing, playing sports, biking, and spending time by the water. He found a sense of peace and happiness when he was near the water, especially when he was fishing.

His passion for bass fishing began to flourish during high school when he started competing in High School Bass Fishing Tournaments in Massachusetts. He quickly gained recognition for his skills and proudly represented Massachusetts at the Bassmaster High School National Championship in 2017.

When he entered the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Sean continued to develop his fishing abilities by joining the Umass Bass Fishing Team. This experience not only helped him improve his angling abilities but also led to lasting friendships and valuable knowledge in competitive fishing. Sean's commitment to the sport was further evident when he became the president of the Umass Bass Fishing Team, contributing to its growth, a national championship tournament berth, and connecting with the student body.

During his time at UMass, Sean discovered another passion – guiding fishing trips. He found immense joy in seeing the excitement on his clients' faces when they felt a fish bite or celebrated a successful catch. This emotional connection to the sport was a constant source of fulfillment and motivation.

In 2022, Sean launched First Cast Guide Service with a mission to unite people of all ages and skill levels for thrilling outdoor adventures. Since its inception, Sean has wholeheartedly shared his fishing passion with both new and returning clients. Whether it's the excitement of landing a big catch, building connections on the boat, or appreciating the beauty of nature, Sean eagerly anticipates creating more of these experiences with his clients.

Jared

Jared grew up in western Massachusetts, where he fell in love with all that the water had to offer. If you turn through the pages of the Muzyka family photo album, you will find a young Jared turning over rocks by the side of the river looking for worms to put on a hook, holding a fish caught in the Deerfield youth fishing derby, and knee deep in the river with a fishing rod in his hand. As he progressed through school, he made friends who shared the same passion as him. He learned that there was a community of people who had been bitten by the same bug he encountered on that first trip to the Deerfield River.

By the time Jared had reached college, he had already acquired his first boat and had countless bass fishing tournaments under his belt. The next step he took was taking the reigns as president of the UMass Bass Fishing Team, where he would compete across the country to earn a spot at two national championships. While the competitive atmosphere was a driving factor in his love for tournament fishing, he truly enjoyed breaking down each new lake to find where fish would be given the time of year and weather conditions, as well as figuring out what methods needed to be used to catch those fish. His college fishing career has given him the understanding of what it takes to learn a body of water and translate that into successful outings whenever the boat comes off the trailer.

Competing in tournaments with a partner has shown Jared that he doesn’t have to be the one to put a fish in the boat to see the reward. Now that he has graduated college, his favorite activity when he goes home to his parent’s house has become taking his younger step-siblings out on his boat. This love of seeing the smiles on their face when they catch a fish is what has brought Jared into guiding, and it is what he looks for every time he takes a client out.
